Intercambio: February 13-20th, 2015
This winter, the 5th annual Intercambio- Youth Exchange for Food Security and Food Sovereignty (SSAN) will be held in UC Santa Cruz and will be hosted by Friends of the Community Agroecology Network (FoCAN). Intercambio is an annual, 8 day youth leadership conference that aims to expand capacity building of youth project initiatives in CAN's food sovereignty sites. Many of the participants are rural youth that are pursuing agroecology; others are project leaders in their hometown cooperatives. Intercambio rotates amongst the youth network in Mexico, Nicaragua and the United States.We are expecting more than 13 youth and project leaders from CAN’s agrecology based food security projects.

- Improve youth leadership capacity to support food security and sovereignty in their communities
- Learn about local experiences in California that will assist youth in strengthening their own projects.
- Develop strategies for managing funds to support the development of the network.
- Share experiences and social justice solutions with the people of California
