International Intercambio/ Youth Exchange in Spring 2019
FoCAN’s mission focuses on building awareness and solidarity among university students about issues and initiatives concerning food sovereignty, agrecological approaches and beyond fair trade practices. Together, CAN, and FoCAN have hosted an annual project called the International Youth Exchange, also known as Intercambio. It is an action education initiative focused on food justice, knowledge and skill sharing, community building, and creating connections transnationally with youth also working on building sustainable food systems. The Community Agroecology Network (CAN) is an international non-governmental organization whose mission is to sustain rural livelihoods and environments by promoting food security and sovereignty in rural communities through agroecological farming practices, local control over food production, distribution and consumption; alternative trade models; and the empowerment of local and Indigenous youth and women in the leadership of these initiatives.
